THE PIAZZA AT SCHMIDT’S is thrilled to announce its FIRST ANNUAL SPRING RESTAURANT WEEKEND AT THE PIAZZA on MAY 1 & 2 from 12PM to 7PM.

BART BLATSTEIN, founder and president of TOWER INVESTMENTS, INC., the city’s leading real estate development firm, opened THE PIAZZA AT SCHMIDT’S on Friday, May 15, 2009. THE PIAZZA is a beautifully landscaped, 80,000 square foot open-air plaza with free events year-round, surrounded by three new buildings including 35 artist’s studios and boutiques, four new restaurants, 500 apartments and 50,000 square feet of office space in the NORTHERN LIBERTIES neighborhood of PHILADELPHIA.

Sample dishes from all types of cuisine including American, Italian, Spanish, Tex-Mex, Japanese and more. Joining us will be EL CAMINO REAL, BAR FERDINAND, RUSTICA, P.Y.T., FADO, DARLING’S DINER, APOLLINARE, VARGA BAR, WINE-O, THE LATEST DISH, HIKARI, ELEVATION BURGER, and many more! On SATURDAY MAY 1, P.Y.T. will sponsor the First Annual “BURGERDELPHIA” BURGER EATING CONTEST on stage, CHEF HARRY from DARLING’S DINER will create cheesecakes in front of your eyes, and the SUMMER BLOCK PARTY AT THE PIAZZA will be in full swing with live rock music from 5PM to 7PM. THE PIAZZA also plays host to the city’s largest independent farmer’s market, THE PIAZZA FARMERS MARKET, every Saturday from 10AM to 2PM. On SUNDAY MAY 2, EQUALITY FORUM takes over THE PIAZZA for SUNDAYOUT!: the region’s largest GLBT festival featuring live entertainment all day as well as over 100 artists and crafters.

SundayOUT! at The Piazza features live and Jumbotron entertainment, and over 100 artisans, vendors, and community organizations. Over 10,000 people are expected to attend.
